1st shift Machine Operator - Racking needed in our South Bend, Indiana location- Monday - Friday 6am - 230pm. Come work for an awesome employer that values their employees. This state-of-the-art facility is very clean and environmentally controlled. Machine Operator is a self-motivated team player, who has the flexibility to adapt the workload as customer changes are communicated and evolve within the day to day operations of the cell. They have the skills to successfully work with their assigned machinery to keep it running efficiently and safely. Effective Machine Operators can think on their feet, make quick decisions and have strong attention to detail to ensure no machinery issues go unnoticed. The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, and run various machines in accordance with customer and PEI specifications safely.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (Needed/desired for this Position)

1 years’ experience with Machine operations (to include manual machines, CNC machines and various other machines). This can include other combustible machines- farm equipment, automobiles, trucks, etc.

Communication skills; Ability to communicate with peers, superiors, and management -both written and verbally.

Self Motivated and have the ability to be cross trained for all areas of production.

Ability to fluctuate schedule as deemed necessary by management or as the work load requires.

Willingness to obtain knowledge of product and process.

Ability to follow directives as set forth by leadership.

Good hand/eye coordination, ability to pay close attention to detail, and be a team player.

High School Diploma or GED Preferred or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

TECHNICAL and/or MANAGERIAL JOB COMPETENCIES – (Specific Job Proficiencies and Skills)

Demonstrate excellent manual dexterity in the assembly of small components with or without the assistance of equipment.

Computer knowledge and ability to read and interpret work instructions

Self motivated to set up machine in a timely manner as well as train others

Teamwork and communication skills- flexibility to cross train and work well within the cell

Assists in training of new employees in core skills of primary position.

The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Meet the production fulfillment needs of internal and external customers
• Setting up machine, utilizing variety of tooling, perform 1^st piece inspection checks .
  • Contact Track Selection.
  • Loading & Priming of Glue.
  • Contact Reel & feed Set up.
  • Adjustments to pressure valve for Glue application.
  • Contact Bowl Vibration & Speed Set up. Track Sensor.
  • Gripper/Wheel Glue height & tooling set up.
  • Track fill.
  • Machine program cycle modes.
  • Spring Adjustments.
  • Operator tooling PM’s.
  • Trouble shooting-Machine adjustments for required contact application.
• Ability to use standardized tools of measurement (Computerized Vision Measurements, arbor presses, depth indicators, go/no-go gages, and other standardized tools/ equipment
• Operate complex machinery safely, accurately, and efficiently  per the work order and work instructions.
• Ability to Read, understand and follow work orders, specifications and “special” instructions as outlined on the work orders.
• Read, understand and complete all production department documentation and work instructions to the PEI-Genesis ISO9001 and AS9100 standard.

• Ability to use or learn basic computer skills.
• Work orders must be completed daily to meet Facility Promise Date and Cycle Time metrics
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area to eliminate FOD (Foreign Object Debris)
• Utilize necessary Kanban and FIFO methodologies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Manual lifting up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 70 lbs. on occasion (with assistance).
• Repetitive detailed work with hands for 8 hours of the day.
• Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours.
• Be able to reach overhead with or without the aid of a ladder or step stool.
• Ability to Grip/Grasp at least 8 hours of the day.
